If You Have Been Raised
Pastor Nick continues on the journey through Colossians. He reminds us of the themes of the letter, which are:
- Christ Alone
- Heavenly hope
- Beware of false teaching
Paul talked about justification in the first two chapters. Now, in the first four verses of chapter three we begin to learn about sanctification. Pastor Nick gives us the definitions:
- Justification: The double imputation of sin and righteousness – Christ took your sin and gave you His righteousness
- Sanctification: The ongoing process of dying to our sinful flesh and living in Christ
Then he goes on to talk specifically about sanctification
1) Sanctification CANNOT come without Justification first - Colossians 3:1, Colossians 1:21-22, Romans 5:
2) Sanctification CANNOT be completed this side of glory - Colossians 3:2-4, Colossians 2:7, 1 John 1:8-2:2
